Oh, Hey!

Hey friends let's chat a bit.

It's been a minute since we've caught up (but then again when has it not been a minute? I gave up on the idea of consistent blogging eons ago.)

I feel like a lot has happened and there's a lot I want to talk about so grab yourself a snack and let's get this party started.

Let's talk about music for a minute shall we? I've been an apple music user for about a year and a half now, and I really love it, but now that everyone is posting their spotify year in review, I wish that I had been using it enough for mine to be accurate. I checked mine and I haven't even heard of who my "top artist" apparently is ??? I'm not sure if I'll make the switch from apple to spotify, I despise the spotify moblie app and love that apple music is essentially an enhanced iTunes, but spotify works with my google home and is a million times better at music curation so we shall see. In terms of music I've been listening to lately, I'm always here for sylvan esso, the killers newest album (the calling + the man are my two favorites), and sampha.

In terms of style I've found myself becoming obsessed with sweatshirts (I've bought two as of recent and am always on the lookout for more) and more 'feminine' items, which I realize is quite a contradiction. This sweatshirt from J.crew is worn once (more like twice) a week and I can't get enough of it. This one from madewell is also a fan favorite and I trying my best to hold myself back from buying this sweatshirt as well.

Other things I've added my my closet are these pair of sneakers picked up during black friday (black sneaks are exactly what I was missing), this off the shoulder bodysuit which was perfect for my annual hot chocolate party (complete with glitter antlers and a red lip, of course)., and a striped top in my favorite cut from my favorite store (and purchased IRL (!!!)). I'm looking to curb my shopping habits in the next year because after a few months working in retail I got too comfortable with retail therapy.

That being said I'm on the hunt for jeans (and shorts if i'm lucky) that actually come in my size, sturdy flats, and have had my eye on this skirt for the longest time. If only I pulled the trigger before my size sold out!

I've really been loving dresses and skirts (!!!) in general which is not my norm. I don't think I've worn a skirt a single time this entire year. I picked up this simple number on mega sale, and have a feeling that it's gonna get lots of show time in 2018. I love sitting down with a cup of tea to do a recap of my style over the year and think about what pieces I feel like I'm missing and I know it's gonna be very helpful in getting my impulse shopping under control.

In terms of other new developments, I started a new job in October doing marketing for a full service creative company which has it's ups and downs but is a great improvement from working retail. I'm about to begin the hunt for summer internships and trying to mentally prep for senior year, so the next few months shall be interesting indeed.

With my new job (with a good pay), and new place with a lousy kitchen I ate out more than I'd like to admit. I started to get back on track towards the end of the semester with easy recipes like this kale and quinoa pilaf (I added pomegranate seeds for a pop), and this ginger scallion sauce perfect for ramen that I can't get enough of.

I'm beyond glad to be home right now and have some time to be lazy and relax with my family. I have spent a grand total of three weeks at home this year which is a huge difference compared to the four months I was home in 2016. I've accepted that Austin is now becoming the place I visit for a few days for the holidays, and while it's sad to come to that realization, I'm always excited to head back and be in new york which gives me reassurance that I'm in the right place.

I hope that your holiday season was merry and bright.

We'll talk soon. xx
