I am throughly upset that denim jacket weather in new york lasted a whole three minutes, but am glad that I at least got to pull out this look. In true me fashion I kept it simple with solid basics, something fun in the form of these earrings, and a hat for good measure. Looking back I feel like this is essentially a cooler version of what a cowboy would wear– leather boots, good denim on denim, and a solid hat– ha! The texan in me can’t resist.

I don’t own many brown things, but I forgot how well black and cognac go together. The rust tassels on my earrings keep in theme and have made me realize how fun earrings can be when paired with something more simple. I haven’t worn these boots in ages and have been contemplating on selling them, but I’ve recently been in the mood to get a bit more dressed up and have been eying everything from skirts and dresses so heeled booties of all sorts.

My favorite part of this outfit by far is this perfect black denim jacket. The second it was available I made sure to snatch it up! I originally ordered it in an XS because I wanted to oversized look, but felt that it was too big and went down to my typical size of XXS. I think it needs to go through a wash or two to really start breaking in, but it is the perfect compliment over a sweater or to toss on for a night out.

It has been such a long time since I’ve gone out and shot an outfit properly and I can’t believe I almost forgot how much I love it. I’ve been in a bit of a rut, and have been using this month to try to push myself a bit more creatively which has been helping tremendously. I’ve come to accept that my blog likely will never be my number one priority, but the act of shooting, editing, culling, and writing has kept me inspired and kept my creative mind sharp which is something I need to remember.
