I'm far from being considered a beauty junkie, but this summer I've picked up a handful of new products that are too good to not share.
I think this is actually the most makeup I've ever purchased at once. I went wild at Glossier because I'm a sucker for their packaging and their pink pouches (this is my 5th one!). Feel free to use my referral link for 10% off of your first order and to help sustain my glossier addiction. Out of the four products I bought, I love wowder and cloud paint, feel meh about the balm dot calm, and actually returned lash slick and picked up another tube of my trusty L'Oreal Telescopic mascara.
For a brand that's all about looking glowy to an extreme, wowder in rich actually does a great job at mattifying my face while still looking natural and not overly powdery. It's lightweight and helps set my concealer to make my skin feel like skin instead of a greasy mess. Cloud paint in storm is a beautiful deep rose color that suits darker skin tones very well. It has a good amount of pigment and can be built up or blended out for the right amount of color. I have drier skin, and this makes my skin look fresher than my usual powder blush.
I usually buy the original balm dot com and love how it feels on my lips. I picked up the cherry version because I wanted a little tint of color, and while it's okay the texture feels a bit more gritty? My guess is that it's because of the pigment, but it just doesn't glide on my lips the same way that the regular one does. The scent is also very artificial which doesn't bother me a ton, but I wished it was toned down a bit. As for lash slick, it made my lashes look incredibly natural, which is great if you're going for a no-makeup look, but if I'm wearing mascara I want noticeable length, which this wasn't doing. It's twice as expensive as my typical mascara, so I decided that it wasn't worth holding on to and returned it.
As for the one non-glossier item, I've been looking for a new under eye concealer because my current one just wasn't doing it for me and my dark circles are a force to be reckoned with. I've gone through at least three tubes of the NARS radiant creamy concealer but wanted to try something new this time around. The woman at Sephora recommended the Too Faced Born This Way concealer and while I was at first on the fence about the color (I bought it in toffee and felt that it was a bit too yellow) it's started to grow on me and is really doing the Lord's work in terms of making me look like I know what sleep is. One layer is perfect for every day, but I found that adding another layer really hides all signs of sleep deprivation. I blend it out using a damp beauty blender and it holds up well throughout the day.
I've also picked up some new body and skincare items that I'm really excited about. I bought a bottle of rosehip seed oil from the ordinary to help my super dry skin. I've been using it at night, and while it's been helping I'm still on the search for a moisturizer (with SPF!) that's ultra hydrating to use in the mornings. If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them! I also picked up another bottle of their glycolic acid (reviewed here) which is my favorite exfoliant.
I don't really like my smile and am always trying out different whitening toothpastes. I'm trying out the activated charcoal toothpaste from Hello (purchased from Target) and will report back on if I like it or not if anyone's interested.
The lovely ladies at Fur were kind enough to send me a bottle of Fur oil to try out. I remember hearing about it a few years ago when Emma Watson raved about it, and as someone who gets the worst ingrowns, I was super intrigued. I've been using it for close to two weeks every day and I have to say that this stuff actually works. I haven't had an ingrown since then and trust me when I say that it's a miracle. I hate being in a swimsuit because of the thought of shaving down there and dealing with the wrath that comes with it, but this oil is helping me keep my sanity and stay comfortable. 11 outta 10, would recommend.
Easily one of my favorite purchases has been the Maison Margiela perfume in by the fireplace. I've been on the hunt for a new perfume for a while and this one checks all the boxes. It smells just like a fire, but with the comforting warmth of vanilla. It feels like a cozy winter day, or sitting around the fire pit on a summer night. I wish they also made this scent in a lotion or body wash because I wanted to be cloaked in it forever and always.
